Art Charity Auction in aid of the Ukrainian Appeal and the Laura Lynn Foundation

Hello everyone!

On Behalf of Dublin & Dun Laoghaire Education and Training Board and the Adult Education Service Blanchardstown, I would like to welcome you to our Online Art Charity Auction in aid of the Ukrainian Appeal and the Laura Lynn Foundation.

As you are aware, the war in Ukraine has led to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of refugees, many of whom have now settled in Ireland. Therefore, we decided to organise this charity Art Auction to raise funds for this very worthwhile appeal. The inspiration for this Auction came from one of the learners, Jelena who donated some of her beautiful artwork for this fundraising campaign. Subsequently, other talented artist learners and staff members became involved, donating some of their high quality original art work for this campaign.

Additionally, the Adult Education Service Blanchardstown has been fund raising for the Laura Lynn Foundation for over 10 years. Laura Lynn is Ireland’s Children’s Hospice, which provides specialist palliative, and supportive care services to meet the needs of children with life limiting conditions. It also provides essential supports for their families in Ireland.

Three of our artist tutors (Will, Marysia and Eleanor) and two of our artist learners (Jelena and Valentina) have contributed over 20 works of Art to this charitable campaign. In recognition of the quality of the work the amazing artists have donated and the essential causes that this campaign supports.
Please be generous with your bids.

Heartfelt thanks must be given to our Artists. So please get bidding now.

Instructions on how to make a bid on any of the donated pieces are outlined below.

Sharon Hennessy

Adult Education Officer

I began my formal artistic training at the School of Visual Arts in NYC earning a BFA
degree in Fine Art and Illustration followed by two years at the Academy of Realist
Art in Toronto, Canada.
After art school, I was commissioned to paint Cardinal John Foley, Grandmaster of
the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre which hangs in their headquarters in Vatican City.
This led to other Cardinal commissions in Vatican City as well as in Baltimore and
Philadelphia, USA. Since relocating and marrying an Irish woman, I have set up my
portrait practice and have painted a range of notable Irish men and women. Among
them are the first woman Chief Justice Susan Denham who hangs in the Honourable
Society of the King’s Inns and the first Dean of Nursing and Midwifery for the RCSI,
Dean Mary Frances Crowley. My most recent commissioned portrait is of the late
Chief Justice Adrian Hardiman.
I am currently engaged in teaching for the DDLETB and conducting various
workshops throughout the country. Painting, drawing and composition, Art History,
and design have all been the focus of my classes. It is very rewarding to see the
fruits of the classes in the work of the students.
I also exhibit my personal work in solo exhibitions, four of which I have recently held
in the OPW-run Ashtown Visitor Centre Gallery in Phoenix Park. These works range
from drawings to plein-air landscapes and portraits. I have also participated in
exhibiting my work in five annual exhibitions at the RHA Gallery – (Royal Hibernian
Academy). Enquires for a commission or viewing more of my work please visit my
website at www.willnathanspaintings.com
